Radio World: Cloud Computing
Interesting. I have often thought that a “cloud” automation system was possible. The real separation in my opinion goes the separation the content management from playout management. All the pieces are there in places like Spotify, Rdio and the like.
The separation from interface and engine is a cool idea and will make the “brew your own” thing a bit easier. But getting away from the integrated data manipulation of the actual audio files, that is where the magic could happen. Make the audio files less proprietary and more universal, it makes the case for a CMS method more akin to what we seen in web programming.
Just thinking out loud with all this… so take it for that is. :)
I laugh out loud every time I fork a project on @GitHub with the whole “HARDCORE FORKING” message. I cannot be the only one. Real love for the guys at @GitHub. They are kind of brilliant.:P
H.O.R.T.U.S., a ‘cyber greenhouse’ in London that replaces traditional plants with bags of algae.
Claudia Pasquero and Marco Poletto of London-based studio EcoLogic have created a sci-fi ‘greenhouse’ in which 325 transparent photobioreactor bags containing nine different species of algae have taken the place of traditional plants.
Greenhouses of the future! (Visitors blow into plastic tubes to help the algae grow.)
